Jávea (Xábia)

The tosca stone beach at JaveaJávea, located between the dramatic cliffs of Cabo de la Nao and Cabo San Antonio, is protected from northerly winds by Mount Montgó in the north west, which gives it a micro climate providing some of the best weather found anywhere in Europe, particularly in the winter.

Javea has three distinct areas.

The old original town of Jávea has remained almost untouched by tourism and consists of a maze winding streets with white house fronts adorned with wrought iron grilles and Gothic style windows. There are numerous shops, bars and small intimate rstaurants clustered around the impressive fortified church of San Bartolomé which dates from the 15th century.

Javea 'El Arenal' beachThe Port area has one of the most attractive harbours in the Mediterranean plus a wealth of inviting shops and restaurants, many specialising in fish dishes freshly caught that morning.

At the southern end of the bay is the Playa Arenal, a favourite with tourists due to its spotlessly clean crescent shaped bay of soft, white sand that fronts the promenade. This comes to life at night with stalls selling a variety of jewellery and trinkets, lively cafes, restaurants and ice cream parlours.

Jávea offers a wide range of activities to keep you busy with golf courses, stables and numerous routes for walkers. The less energetic can take advantage of the many boat trips that are available along the coast. Nearby towns and villages include Denia, Moraira, Benitachell, Benissa, Teulada and Gata de Gorgos.
